Mark 10:23-31

The Great Exchange

To God nothing is impossible. Jesus saves. Salvation which is impossible through human efforts is possible only through Him. If salvation depends on man, indeed no one can be saved. Thankfully, it is solely of God. Jesus had accomplished it at the cross.

And to us, who are recipients of this grace, we are eternally grateful. Nothing is of more value than this. Nothing else matters. We would do anything for Him who made it possible for us. We are more than willing to follow and leave everything. For we know that salvation has no cost (not from our end) but discipleship has. We are told to count the cost in following Christ. But we can never out give God. Jesus has said, in this present age, a hundred times as much and eternal life in the age to come.

What did it cost us to follow Jesus? What is it that we had to leave for His name sake? For sure, it is nothing compared to the incalculable cost of our salvation. And Jesus paid it for us.

Oh heavenly Father, You deserve nothing less than eternal gratitude from your children like me, whose salvation You made possible. Our salvation is truly priceless for it costs Your dear Son’s precious life. Help me to become true disciple who willingly leave everything to follow my Lord Jesus. Like Paul, I want to also say “I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.” Amen.
