Isaiah 49:1-7

God’s Chosen Servant

Though Isaiah’s vision was directed to the nation of Israel, and Messianic in nature (pointing to Jesus Christ as its complete fulfillment), these verses speaks to us Christians today – God’s chosen people (I Peter 2:9).

Christ’s children are chosen by God – and chosen from the beginning (2 Thessalonians 2:13), even before the creation of the world (Eph 1:4). This means that God’s choosing is nothing of our doing. It was totally His initiative for what could have we done before we were born?

And chosen to be saved ((2 Thessalonians 2:13) and for a mission (the salvation of other) -- To declare God ( I Peter 2:9); to make Him known (Colossians 1:27); to become witnesses to all men (Acts 22:15); to be lights of the world (Matthew 5;14); to go and bear fruit (disciples).

And God is so faithful and gracious -- He honors His chosen ones. He let them share with His glory (2 Thessalonians 2:14).

We draw our confidence from this truth! Knowing that it is God who chose us and that He did even before we were born, we are assured that we will make it to the end victorious! As we obey God’s command to become witnesses throughout the world and bear fruits, nothing would dishearten us totally, for our strength, our hope, our motivation, our confidence rest on God alone and our triumph rests upon His work! There may be moments of discouragement but they will not bring us down completely. Our driving force to go on knowing that it is God who chose us, who sent us who will ultimately rewards us.

Dear Lord, thank you for choosing me from the beginning that I have full assurance of salvation and full confidence to become your witness. Thank you dear Jesus for what you have done for me, and I am certain you would bring your work in me completion.
